CALL FOR TEACHERS WORKSHOP
This is a call for teachers within the area of interaction design. During
the Scandinavian Student Interaction Design Conference, SIDER’06, there
will be a teacher track for interested researchers. The programme is only
preliminary so far, but the time will perhaps be at Saturday the 25th of
February from 14.30. When the students are in workshops, the teachers have
an opportunity to sit down and discuss relevant issues related to the
education of the interaction designer, with the motive to increase
understanding for the different interpretations within interaction design
that we actually do have.
We hope that a lot of teachers will be interested in this, both for a more
general discussion upon interaction design but also more concrete on how
You use for instance sketching/ prototyping/ methods/ theory within your
interaction design education.
To ground this discussion on a common base, then we propose some questions
relevant for you all to consider before coming to the conference(see
below). You are also welcomed to send answers to these questions to
responsible Peter Ljungstrand before this day; peterlj[]cs.chalmers.se.
1. Demography of the education
(country, city, have existed for how many years, number of students each
year, bachelor-/masters programme)
2. Who is the education directed to?
3. How do You interpret interaction design?
4. What central conceptions are there generally in interaction design?
5. What knowledge and experience is relevant for an interaction designer?
6. What skills are relevant for an interaction designer?
7. How do You teach interaction design?
8. Name three central conceptions that are characteristic for Your
education?
9. What are Your future plans? How will You improve or change the
education? For instance because of the Bologna model or other.
10. What other areas are related or parts of interaction design, for
instance HCI, Product design? What is Your view upon this issue?
11. What is characteristic for the Scandinavian interaction design education?
For interested institutions, there will also be offered education stands
as an opportunity to present each institution during the conference. If
each course had someone of the staff there this could be even more
accessible for the students to see similarities or differences with other
institutes, as well as interesting for the staff to network between the
different studies.
